  • KDE4 livecds

Yay! We have now sewed fancy kde4-cds with the current state of kde4. Get them before your neighbor. Look at kde team homepage to find it.

    Reports welcome to debian-kde@lists.do

Thanks to the rest of the team and to the debian live project who made this quite easy.

  • Debian acronym?

According to a KDE packager in some Germany based distro:

Delivering Eventually, By Interminable Annihilation of Novelty

  • Testing kblogger

Kblogger is a nice little applet for Kicker. As the smart reader probably already have guessed, this is very much related to KDE. Kblogger basically sits in the bottom bar with a small "Blog!" button. Click it, and you should be able to write a blog post easily. I wonder if it works – and if I end up with packaging it for debian. And a general note. You need to use the link for the remote api to your blog. Not the ‘main’ link. In the wordpress case, it is to the xmlrpc.php file.

Is there other apps that does similar things ? or is kblogger the state of the art currently ?

  • kde 3.5.7

kde 3.5.7 is now available in debian unstable on several architectures. Hopefully the rest will catch up when some bugs in other packages are fixed.

Feel free to upgrade – but please please please – log out of kde and back in after you have upgraded and before you start filing any bugs.

  • KDE4 secret configuration variables

It seems that the main source of the configuration variables is in the CMake-files.
    Especially kdelibs/cmake/modules/FindKDE4Internal.cmake.

Instead of the automake –sysconfdir, it seems you can use -DSYSCONF_INSTALL_DIR=/etc at least in kde. This does not seem to be CMake specific, but something kde4 has implemented in their build system.

  • BUGS. Bugs. bugs

In the KDE team we are have too many notforwarded bugs open. Most of these bugs are upstream bugs and feature requests. Many bug reports already fixed upstream, but not yet marked as such. And many that just needs to be located in the KDE Bugzilla.

Some of the bugs already fixed upstream is probably by readers of Planet Debian. If the readers of Planet Debian (That’s you), could go quickly thru their bugs and check if it still applies and add a note if it does and else close it with a comment, it would be really really nice. To get a list of all the reported bugs pr email address, you can use the following url: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?submitter=your@email.invalid with your reportbug email inserted.

If your bug still applies, it would be very cool if you could find it upstream and mark it forwarded. Our goal is to make the red and the een line much more close than they currently are: Bug graph with forwards from the last year
    Click for full size

Any other help with the bugs is also much appreciated.

My hero is still Olivier Vitrat who came out of the blue and is doing a amazing job with pinging and forwarding bugs.

  • aggregated on planet debian!

Thanks to Ana I am now on debian planet. I have ended up underneath Steve McIntyre, but as I am quite strong, I think I can handle it.

Lately on the Debian devel maillist, there has been some flaming about maintainers and when to answer their bugs. I whined a bit about KDE team being a bit overloaded – and suddenly a guy started working on the KDE related bugs.

Olivier Vitrat is my current hero for the next couple of days.
