What I done this weekend …

  • Updated the debian packaging and debian patches of KDE4 to the 4.0.84 tarballs
  • Pushed kdelibs, kdepimlibs, kdebase-runtime and kdebase-workspace 4.0.84 to experimental
  • Prepared the rest of the packages ready to be pushed to experimental when the auto-builders have built this
  • Updated Arora packages to the 0.2 release

Ana guessed slightly wrong when trying to guess next update of kde4.1 in debian, but her howto still works. Give it a bit for the autobuliders to catch up though.

But I guess I should find a rich uncle to give me newer hardware – my computer was only idle a few hours since friday evening.

I do hope that plasma people soon reaches a stable ABI.

And by the way:
I\'m going to akademy

    Hello,

thanks for your work updating the KDE4 packages. Unfortunately plasma crashes here, and even removing plasmarc and plasma-appletsrc does not help. Starting in a new empty profile neither… :-( Here is the backtrace:

Yves: expected. Please wait for updated plasmoids. Reason: plasma breaks binary compability (ABI)

  3. Yves says:

Hello, ok, thanks for the information! To bad I updated too fast… :-(

  4. adi says:

same problem here … not to be too pushy but when do we expect the updated plasmoids.

Also, my KMail wont start. I get

kmail: error while loading shared libraries: libgpgme++-pthread.so.1.2.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

when starting from konsole, or something like

Cannot load part for Mail. QLibrary::load_sys: Cannot load /usr/lib/kde4/kmailpart.so (ibgpgme++-pthread.so.1.2.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    )

    when I start Kontact …..

me updating to soon would be the cause here too?

Anyway, thanks for your work, Cheers

  5. James Spencer says:

When fishing from experimental always keep a backup window manger around. I always keep blackbox and xterm installed– That way when I upgrade myself into an ‘icky state’ I can still use KDE apps under X.

  6. sune says:

adi: also expected. But everything should be available now, at least on i386. The rest of the archs is catching up.

  7. Julien Richard-Foy says:

Why isn’t Step yet available ?
